    Overview

Jabali Private House is a secluded, exclusive-use property built around a series of granite boulders in Tanzania’s Ruaha National Park. It operates as a self-contained safari base, with its own dedicated team including a chef, guide and private safari vehicle. This arrangement gives small groups or families of up to six the freedom to plan their days entirely as they wish, from early-morning walking safaris to lingering over lunch by the private pool. The house itself is designed to blend with its rocky surroundings. A spacious lounge and dining area opens onto a broad wooden deck with a swimming pool, all positioned to offer wide-ranging views over a landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees. Guests at the house also have access to the facilities at the nearby Jabali Ridge camp, which include a bar, an infinity pool and a spa for treatments between safari activities. Ruaha is a vast and relatively untouched wilderness, marking a transition zone between eastern and southern African ecosystems. This results in an impressive diversity of wildlife. The park is particularly known for its large elephant herds and significant lion population, but it is also a good place to find leopard, cheetah, wild dog and antelope species like greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan. With a private guide, activities can be tailored to specific interests, from tracking predators on game drives to discovering smaller creatures on foot.

    More about Jabali Private House

    The stay

A stay here is a truly private safari experience. The house comes with its own staff, including a private guide and chef, allowing for a completely flexible daily schedule. Mealtimes can be adjusted, and game drives can last as long as you wish. Days are spent exploring the immense Ruaha landscape in a dedicated open-sided safari vehicle. Between drives, guests can relax on the deck or cool off in the private plunge pool. For a change of scene, the main bar, library and spa at Jabali Ridge are just a short drive away. Activities are varied, with the option of day and night game drives as well as guided walking safaris through the bush (seasonal).

    The location

The house sits on a rocky outcrop, or kopje, with far-reaching views across the raw landscape of Ruaha National Park in southern Tanzania. This is a region where the savannahs of East Africa meet the woodlands of the south, creating a unique habitat that supports a great diversity of species. Ruaha is famed for its large lion prides and one of the largest elephant populations in East Africa. The park's terrain is defined by rolling hills, the Great Ruaha River and colossal baobab trees. Beyond the large predators, it is also home to wild dog packs, both greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope, and some 550 species of birds.

    Where you'll sleep

The house accommodates up to six guests in three separate bedrooms. There are two master suites, each with a king-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom featuring a large, walk-in shower with views out over the park. A third bedroom, ideal for children or other members of a group, contains twin beds and also has its own en-suite bathroom. The rooms are connected to the central lounge and deck area by raised walkways. The design is contemporary and comfortable, with natural materials and an indoor-outdoor flow that makes the most of the house’s elevated position among the rocks and trees.

    Eating and drinking

A private chef manages all meals, which are tailored to your group's preferences and schedule. Dining is a flexible affair, with most meals served on the shaded outdoor deck overlooking the swimming pool and the plains beyond. The rate is fully inclusive of all meals and most drinks. A selection of house wines, local beers and spirits are included, while premium wines and champagne are available for an additional charge. With your own private team, the timing of breakfast, lunch and dinner can be arranged around your safari activities and personal rhythm, whether that means an early bush breakfast or a late dinner under the stars.

    Who it suits

Jabali Private House is an excellent choice for families or small groups of friends seeking privacy, exclusivity and a flexible safari itinerary. With its three bedrooms, including one twin, it comfortably sleeps up to six guests. The private guide and vehicle mean that the pace and focus of the safari can be entirely personalised, which is particularly beneficial for those with young children or specific wildlife interests. The combination of a private pool, dedicated staff and the freedom to set your own timetable makes it a restorative retreat for anyone wanting to experience a wild part of Tanzania on their own terms.
