What a tailor-made safari holiday means with us

A tailor-made safari is a private trip designed around your dates, your budget and the way you like to travel — not a fixed group departure. We plan bespoke safari holidays across Southern and East Africa, from a 10-night Namibia self-drive itinerary to a fly-in Okavango and Victoria Falls combination, or a Kruger Big Five week finished on a Mauritius or Zanzibar beach.

Every lodge we put in front of you comes from inventory we list and inspect ourselves, so the photographs, room types, meal basis and child policies you see on our listing pages are the same ones in your itinerary. That means a custom safari itinerary quoted from live lodge rates for your exact travel dates, not a brochure estimate.

Popular starting points include a Cape Town and Kruger safari, a Garden Route and Big Five self-drive, a Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Zanzibar route, a Masai Mara and Diani honeymoon, and a Namibia grand loop. Pick the one closest to your idea below, or send us a blank sheet and we will design the trip from scratch.

    Tailor-made safari questions, answered

    What is a tailor-made safari?

A tailor-made safari is a private trip designed around you rather than a fixed group departure. You choose the countries, the dates, the pace and the style of lodge, and we build the route, the transfers and the game activities around that. Nothing is shared with strangers and nothing is locked to a departure calendar.

How much does a tailor-made African safari cost?

Our indicative from-prices run from roughly R35,000 per person sharing for a 10-night self-drive route in Namibia to R120,000 or more per person for a private-concession or island-combination trip. Those figures are land-only, per person sharing, and exclude international flights. Every journey page shows an indicative from-price in your selected currency, and your quote is built from live lodge rates for your exact dates.

Which countries can you plan a bespoke safari in?

South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, plus beach extensions in Mauritius, Seychelles and Zanzibar. Multi-country combinations — Cape Town with Kruger, Victoria Falls with the Okavango, Serengeti with Zanzibar — are the trips we plan most often.

How long does it take to get an itinerary?

You get a first-draft day-by-day itinerary within one working day of your enquiry, with named lodges, routing and an all-in price. Revisions are unlimited and free.

When is the best time to go on safari in Africa?

For classic game viewing, the dry winter months of May to October concentrate wildlife around water in Southern Africa, and July to October covers the Mara and Serengeti migration. Namibia and the Cape read well year-round, and green-season travel from January to March brings lower rates, newborn game and dramatic skies.

Do you charge a planning or booking fee?

No. There is no planning fee and no booking fee — you pay the lodge and service rates in your quote. We are paid by the properties we book, so our advice costs you nothing.

Can you plan a family or honeymoon safari?

Yes. Family trips are built around malaria-risk, child age limits and shorter driving days, with family units and interconnecting rooms. Honeymoons lean into private-guide game drives, plunge-pool suites and a beach finish in Mauritius, Seychelles or Zanzibar.

    Self-drive or fully guided?

Both. Namibia and the Cape suit self-drive with pre-booked lodges and a routing pack. Botswana, the Serengeti, the Mara and private Big Five reserves work better fully guided or fly-in, and many trips mix the two.

    Not sure which route?

Send us the rough shape of your trip and we will suggest the best fit — including combinations that are not on this page.
