SafariStays

    Independent travel,
    expertly curated.

SafariStays is a Cape Town-based online travel agency for travellers who'd rather design their own African journey than buy a packaged group tour.

    Who we are

An OTA built for the independent African traveller

SafariStays is an online travel agency (OTA) based in Cape Town, South Africa. We curate hand-picked safari lodges, tented camps, guesthouses and self-catering houses across Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Kenya — and we give travellers the tools to plan their own trip.

We exist for one specific kind of traveller: the one who wants to choose their own lodges, set their own pace, and travel with their own group of friends or family — rather than joining a packaged group tour with thirty strangers and a fixed schedule.

Whether your version of independent travel means a 4x4 down Namibia's gravel roads, a small plane into the Okavango Delta, or a long weekend between Cape Town and the Kruger, we're the booking and planning layer that makes it happen.

Please note: SafariStays (safaristays.com) is not to be confused with Safari-Stays.com, a separate Botswana-based operator. We're an independent online travel agency based in Cape Town, South Africa.

    Where we operate

Six countries. One independent travel philosophy.

The common thread isn't the mode of transport — it's the traveller. Each country expresses independent travel differently.

    Self-drive countries

    Namibia · South Africa

World-class self-drive infrastructure. Excellent roads, distances are manageable, and the journey is part of the experience. Choose your route, your lodges, your pace.

    Fly-in safari countries

    Botswana · Tanzania

The Okavango Delta and the Northern Circuit are predominantly fly-in. Small bush planes connect remote camps efficiently — independent travel without the wheel.

    Hybrid countries

    Zimbabwe · Kenya

Combine self-drive overland sections with fly-in safari camps. Victoria Falls and Mana Pools by road; the Maasai Mara and Laikipia by air.

    What we believe

Five things that shape how we work

    Independent over packaged

Group tours have their place — but they're not what we're for. Every feature on this site is built for travellers who want to design their own trip.

    Real photography only

Every photo on SafariStays is real. No AI-generated imagery, ever. If a lodge can't supply real photos, it doesn't make it onto the platform.

    Curation over volume

We turn down properties that don't meet our standards. Fewer, better lodges that we'd genuinely send our own friends to.

    5% to conservation

We pledge 5% of booking profits to local wildlife conservation funds in each country we operate in. Built into our pricing, not bolted on.

    How booking works

Two ways to book — depending on the lodge

African hospitality is wonderfully varied. Rather than force every property into one rigid system, we meet each lodge where it is.

    01

    Instant book

For lodges with live calendar integrations, see real availability and pay online in a single flow. Confirmed instantly.

    02

Request to book — enquiry & quote

For exclusive, remote, or partner-managed lodges, submit an enquiry and receive a personalised quote, typically within 24 hours, payable via secure online checkout.

    SafariStays vs the alternatives

Why not just use Booking.com or Airbnb?

Honest answer: for a city hotel in Paris, use Booking.com. For a flat in Cape Town, use Airbnb. For curated, owner-run safari lodges across six African countries — with live availability, local-currency pricing, and a Cape Town team you can phone — that's the gap SafariStays exists to fill.
