Overview
Romeo Eco Pod is one of six off-grid luxury pods on Olive View, an olive farm above Wellington in the Cape Winelands, about an hour's drive from Cape Town. The farm is 100% off-grid and solar powered, no chemicals are used in the pods, and most of the original landscape — old olive orchards, rockpools and fragrant fynbos — has been left as it was. The pod sleeps two. Inside there is a king-size bed, an en-suite shower room, and an open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area with an indoor fireplace and a 2-plate gas stove. Outside there is a second, open-air shower, a patio with a braai and outdoor dining, and a sunken wood-fired hot tub. Wood, firelighters and candles are provided, along with a potjie pot, cooler box, flask and a picnic basket and blanket. Stays are self-catering, and the farm's hiking, trail-running and mountain-bike routes — including a 4km farm loop, a 14km Hawequa trail and a 21km scout trail — start at the gate. There are no children and no pets, which is rather the point.
