    More about Waterberg Resort

    The stay

Waterberg Resort is located in central Namibia, nestled within the Waterberg Plateau National Park. The park is ecologically diverse and encompasses the Waterberg Plateau, which is elevated significantly above the plains of the Kalahari in Eastern Namibia. The plateau and 405 km² of surrounding land were designated a Nature Reserve in 1972. The resort itself sits at the base of the cliffs of the Waterberg Plateau. Guests can enjoy a selection of shorter walking trails around the camp during either the morning or afternoon. The resort features a swimming pool for relaxation and a shop for essentials. Conference facilities are available, accommodating a maximum of 25 people. Laundry service is also offered to guests.

    Where you'll sleep

Accommodation at Waterberg Resort is designed to offer a comfortable and practical base for exploring the surrounding nature. Options include double rooms, family chalets, bush chalets, and premier bush chalets, alongside campsites. All rooms feature an en-suite bathroom equipped with wrought iron vanity units, ceramic basins, complimentary toiletries, and soft towels. Each room is furnished with a ceiling fan, comfortable twin beds with bedding, a tea/coffee station, and a mini-fridge. A large sliding door opens onto a private porch area, complete with a table and chairs. Some of the rooms are also equipped with barbeque facilities. Bush chalets and family chalets offer separate sleeping areas and a lounge area, while family chalets and some bush chalets include a kitchenette. Premier Bush Chalets offer a queen-sized bed.

    Eating and drinking

The resort features a restaurant and a bar for dining and refreshments. These are housed within a historical building, which was originally constructed in 1908 and served as a police post. Meals can be enjoyed in this unique setting. There is also a shop on-site where guests can purchase various items.

    The location

Waterberg Resort is situated within the Waterberg Plateau National Park in central Namibia, 68km east of the town of Otjiwarongo. The Waterberg Plateau itself rises approximately 200m above the surrounding landscape, characterised by sheer cliffs and distinctive rock formations. The park is home to over 200 different bird species, including the only remaining colony of the endangered Cape Vulture in Namibia. Rare species of small antelope can be found on the lower hills of the mountain. The resort is accessible off the D2512 road, 17 km from the junction with the C22. Distances from key areas include Windhoek (570 km), Swakopmund (499 km), and Sossusvlei (905 km). The terrain around the resort is suitable for hiking, and ancient fossilised Dinosaur footprints can be found on the plateau. A colonial cemetery is located at the base of the mountain.

    Who it suits

Waterberg Resort suits guests seeking an immersive nature experience within a protected environment. Its location inside Waterberg Plateau National Park appeals to those interested in wildlife observation, particularly birdwatching, given the over 200 bird species and endangered Cape Vulture colony present. The availability of game drives and walking trails caters to active travellers and nature enthusiasts who wish to explore the park's biodiversity and unique landscape, including its prominent plateau, cliffs, and rock formations. The range of accommodation, from double rooms to various chalets and campsites, makes it suitable for different group sizes and preferences, including families and those seeking self-catering options in some chalets. The presence of conference facilities indicates suitability for small corporate retreats or workshops. The resort is ideal for guests looking for a tranquil setting with opportunities for both guided and self-guided exploration of Namibia's natural heritage.
