    Overview

Where the evanescent Tsauchab River disappears into the Namib sand, Dead Valley Lodge sits between the towering red dunes of Sossusvlei and the rugged Naukluft mountains — one of only two lodges located inside the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Twenty free-standing, climate-controlled tented chalets leave a light footprint on the desert while offering panoramic views, private verandas, plush interiors and free-standing en-suite bathrooms. The open-sided lounge and picturesque bar are made for sundowners over the dunes, with wildlife often wandering past the terrace. A cold-water swimming pool looks out over Elim Dune — the perfect reward after a morning of dune climbing — and the first-class restaurant serves three meals a day of typically Namibian cuisine under the stars. Because the lodge lies inside the park gates, guests get a head start on the sunrise at Sossusvlei, Deadvlei, Dune 45 and Big Daddy, with guided excursions, nature drives to Sesriem Canyon, hot air balloon flights and photographic outings arranged from reception. Please note the lodge does not accommodate children under six years, making it a beautifully romantic option for couples.
