About the reserve

Parsons Hilltop is an intimate, owner-run safari collection in Parsons Nature Reserve, part of Balule in the Greater Kruger. The reserve is unfenced and connected to the wider Kruger ecosystem, so Big Five game viewing, superb birding and open bushveld views come as standard wherever you stay.

The collection is made up of three separate camps rather than one lodge with a long room list. They share the same reserve, the same guides and the same full-board rhythm of two daily game drives — but they suit very different travellers. Equine Safaris

Two-hour guided horse safari through the Lowveld bush with wildlife viewing from horseback. Parsons provides concierge service only; guests pay at the facility and arrange times/horses directly.

Morning and Afternoon Safaris

Early morning and late afternoon game drives in an open safari vehicle with an experienced ranger guide. Morning drives include a coffee or tea stop in the bush, while afternoon drives offer a sundowner-style safari experience. Shared basis unless exclusive vehicle use is arranged.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the three Parsons camps?

Parsons Hilltop Tented Camp is four canvas safari tents on the hilltop for couples and adults, with no children in the tents. Parsons House is a private-use villa sleeping 4 to 10 guests on sole use. Parsons River Camp is two separate cottages on the banks of the Olifants River, suited to families and groups. All three sit on the same unfenced reserve in Balule, Greater Kruger.

Are the camps on the same reserve?

Yes. All three camps are on Parsons Nature Reserve in Balule, part of the Greater Kruger, and share the same guides, game drives and reserve access.

Are children allowed?

Children are not accommodated in the hilltop tents. Parsons House on private use and the River Camp cottages do take children — please confirm ages when you enquire or book so the right beds and vehicle seats are held.

What is included in the rate?

Rates are full board: breakfast, light lunch and dinner, plus two guided game drives per day in open safari vehicles, drive snacks, daily housekeeping, Wi-Fi and coffee or tea. Drinks, gratuities, the reserve gate fee, conservation levies and extra activities are settled separately.

Is the reserve fenced?

No. The camps are unfenced and open to the wider Greater Kruger ecosystem, so guests are escorted after dark and must sign an indemnity form on arrival. The camps are not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with walking difficulties.

Can I book more than one camp on the same trip?

Yes. Many guests split a stay — for example tents for a couple's night and the villa or a river cottage when family joins. Book each camp for its own dates, or send us an enquiry and we'll hold the combination for you.
