Lodge in Clanwilliam, Cederberg, Western Cape
Simbavati Cederberg Ridge Wilderness Lodge sits on a ridge above the Olifants River valley, roughly three hours north of Cape Town, on a working rooibos and citrus farm at the edge of the Cederberg Wilderness Area. Eleven suites and rooms are arranged around a courtyard and pool, all with mountain or valley views, and the lodge keeps a relaxed farmhouse feel with fireplaces, a wine cellar, a small spa and a library. Days are spent walking to San rock-art sites with a guide, exploring the Biedouw Valley and Pakhuis Pass, boating or tubing on the farm dam, birding, stargazing under some of South Africa's darkest skies, and tasting local rooibos, wine and citrus. Rates are quoted per person on either a Half Board Plus or Full Board Adventure basis; the Full Board Adventure option includes a daily guided activity.
