The Elegant Desert Camp

The Elegant Desert Lodge offers accommodation within the Namib Desert, nestled on the farm Hyas between the Naukluft Mountains to the north and the Tsaris Mountains in the south. The area features flat gravel plains surrounded by mountain ranges. Guests can enjoy a tranquil garden, which serves as a small oasis, providing various spots for reading or relaxation. Verandas attached to each room offer vistas of the desert plains. Mornings can begin with a view of the desert sunrise, followed by breakfast. Afternoons provide opportunities to unwind in a contemporary lounge, in the garden, or by the sparkling pool. The lodge has a pool bar. Evenings can be spent around a blazing campfire in the African firepit, with the possibility of seeing wildlife at a nearby waterhole.

Accommodation consists of 27 rooms, each designed to be elegant, tasteful, and comfortable. All rooms are air-conditioned and feature en-suite facilities. They are intended to provide a soulful yet liberating atmosphere, consistent with their setting in the world’s oldest desert. Each room also includes a veranda, offering views of the desert plains.

Guests can start their day with an extensive and wholesome breakfast buffet. For those with an early start for Sossusvlei, a picnic breakfast pack is available. Lunch can be a relaxed affair, accompanied by a selection of South African wines. The lodge has a pool bar for drinks. In the evenings, a 4-course set menu is served, which varies daily and features Namibian delights. Dinner is offered either in the restaurant or outdoors in the garden under the stars, depending on weather conditions. Before dinner, guests can enjoy a beverage of their choice while watching the desert sunset, and later gather around a blazing campfire.
