    More about Teufelskrallen Lodge

    The stay

Teufelskrallen Lodge provides an intimate and sequestered hideaway. Accommodation is in tented houses built on the crest of the westernmost Kalahari dune. Guests have a panoramic view over the endless vastness and the sprawling Kalahari dunes, which reach up to 30 metres in height. The lodge is situated on the edge of a private nature reserve, near the small town of Kalkrand. The main facilities – reception, restaurant, and swimming pool – are located at the Altes Farmhaus, 3km from the tented houses. This separation creates an isolated feel at the tented accommodation. Activities offered include morning nature drives, sundowner drives, and guided or unguided nature walks. All activities depart from the sister property, Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge. Guests observe a variety of wildlife, including giraffe, zebra, eland, oryx, wildebeest, nyala, springbok, and ostrich, along with numerous birds, insects, and reptiles.

    Where you'll sleep

Accommodation at Teufelskrallen Lodge consists of six tented houses. These are built on stilts on the dune crest, spaced apart for privacy. Each tented house is fully furnished and comfortably equipped, featuring a large viewing deck. They offer views over the savannah, providing an outlook for sunset. In-room amenities include a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, mosquito nets, and a fan. A sitting area is also provided. The private bathroom, with a shower, connects to the tent by a short boardwalk, presenting a distinct take on an en-suite arrangement. Each tented house has a private shaded viewing deck, with decks on both sides for views of both sunrise and sunset. The accommodation has a rustic, uncomplicated, yet comfortable feel.

    Eating and drinking

Guests at Teufelskrallen Lodge enjoy breakfast and dinner at the restaurant located at the Altes Farmhaus, 3km from the tented houses. The farmhouse also hosts a cosy coffee garden. Guests relax at the pool in the tropical gardens or find a shady spot underneath large trees while enjoying a cool drink. Free WiFi is available at the main lodge area in the old farmhouse.
