The stay
Soft Adventure Camp is situated in the Namib-Naukluft Mountains, nestled between two granite hills above the Namib Naukluft Lodge. This accommodation offers a base for exploring the surrounding private nature reserve. The camp features a large, well-designed sitting and dining area positioned on a hill overlooking the rooms, blending into the granite boulders. Guests can enjoy recreation amenities, including an outdoor pool built among the rocks next to the dining area, which provides views. A terrace also offers a spot to take in the scenery. The camp is suitable for individual travellers, groups, and those wanting a bed for a night or two. Housekeeping is provided daily.
The camp facilitates access to a variety of activities within the nature reserve. Guided Sossusvlei Excursions are available, including breakfast packs for a picnic after climbing Big Mama dune. A Nature Drive of several hours explores the reserve from a game-viewing vehicle, covering the Tsondab catchment area and Springbokvlakte, with lunch served in the Moringa Forest and sundowner drinks on Marble Mountain. A shorter sundowner drive to Marble Mountain is also an option. For those preferring to explore on foot, a guided Zebra Trail follows an old mountain-zebra track into the hills. A gentler and shorter alternative is a stroll from the lodge to a small waterhole, where springbok and sandgrouse can be observed. The first hole of a sand golf course is also located here.
African Extravaganza offers tailor-made tours that include accommodation at Soft Adventure Camp, along with a shuttle service from Windhoek or Swakopmund/Walvis Bay. These tours include options such as a three-day Sossusvlei Shuttle, a four-day Desert Dream Tour, and a five-day Desert and Coast Tour, which incorporates an overnight stay at a pension in Swakopmund. These services allow guests to experience the Sossusvlei area without needing to hire a vehicle.
