    The stay

    Namib Desert Lodge is situated at the base of ancient, fossilised dunes within the Gondwana Namib Park, 60km north of Sesriem in the Sossusvlei area. The lodge offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Guests can cool off at one of the two cold water swimming pools or watch gemsbok at the waterhole. Activities include walking trails into the dunes. The lodge provides secure parking and 24-hour security. Check-in is from 14:00, with early check-in subject to availability. Check-out is by 10:00, with late check-out available upon request.

    Where you'll sleep

    The lodge offers 66 down-to-earth and homely rooms, laid out among the ancient Namib sands at the foot of fossilised dunes. These rooms provide views of grassy savannahs or the base of the dunes. Each room is en-suite and features a veranda, air conditioning or heating, a safe, tea/coffee station, and a hairdryer. All rooms include twin beds. Mosquito nets and wire mesh screens are fitted to the windows. One room is designed to be suitable for guests with restricted mobility. The rooms are arranged in rows, with walkways in front of each. No smoking is permitted in the rooms.

    Eating and drinking

    Namib Desert Lodge features a restaurant and a bar. The large indoor restaurant has an adjacent bar. A separate outside pool bar is also available. The restaurant is an open-plan space, and its design includes a hand-painted wall. Long dining tables are provided, along with smaller tables for individual travellers. Towards the back of the restaurant, a smaller room can be used as an overflow area during busy periods. Breakfast is typically served as a buffet from 06:30.

    Namib Desert Lodge is located 60km north of Sesriem on the C19 road, in the Karas Region of Namibia, within the Sossusvlei area. It is set at the foot of ancient, fossilised dunes and rust-coloured sandstone cliffs. The lodge is positioned on the southern edge of the Gondwana Namib Park. The surrounding landscape features soft dunes, riverine trees in the distance, and purple-blue mountains. Guests can explore the desert landscapes on guided sundowner or sunrise drives within the Gondwana Namib Park. Day trips to Sossusvlei, home to some of the highest dunes on Earth, are also available from the lodge. Self-guided hiking trails begin directly from the property.
