Lavender cottage

Overview

Fossil Hills Lavender Cottage is situated on Thornvilla Farm, in the Breede Valley between Robertson and McGregor. This working wine farm forms part of the McGregor Winery. Grapes, plums, apricots, and various vegetables are harvested each year. The name 'Fossil Hills' comes from the fossils that were and are still found on the farm, dating back to the fish age of 355 million years ago. The air-conditioned cottage comprises one bedroom and one bathroom, accommodating two guests. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed and the bathroom is fitted with a shower. The open-plan living space features a dining and lounge area with a TV with DStv and a fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, a two-plate stove, and a microwave. Outside, there is a covered patio with seating and a built-in braai. The cottage also has its own KolKol wood-fired hot tub, with firewood provided. Two mountain bikes, a kayak, and a boat with fishing rods are provided for guests to use. The area offers many outdoor activities such as fruit orchards, olive groves, vineyards, walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, 4x4 trails, as well as bird watching in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. The hosts offer wine walks, and guests are welcome to enquire for more information. Guests can also enjoy the pottery studio, art galleries, and cob house building, or enjoy a meal at the local coffee shops, restaurants, or pubs.
