Overview
Fossil Hills Flamingo Cottage is situated on the Thornvilla Farm, in the Breede Valley between Robertson and McGregor. This working wine farm forms part of the McGregor Winery. Grapes, plums, apricots, and various vegetables are harvested each year. The name ‘Fossil Hills’, comes from the fossils that were and are still found on the farm which dates farm, dating back to the fish age of 355 million years ago. The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, accommodating 4 guests. The first bedroom is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. The second bedroom is furnished with 2 single beds and also has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. The open-plan living space features a dining and lounge area with a TV and fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, stove, oven and microwave. Complimentary Wi-Fi and braai facilities are available. Guests can relax in the wood-fired hot tub, with wood provided. The area offers many outdoor activities such as fruit orchards, olive groves, vineyards, walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, 4x4 trails, as well as bird watching in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. The hosts offer wine walks, and guests are welcome to enquire for more information. Guests can also enjoy the pottery studio, art galleries, and cob house building, or enjoy a meal at the local coffee shops, restaurants, or pubs.
