Lodge in Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Mpumalanga
Arathusa Safari Lodge is an intimate, family-run lodge set in the heart of the Sabi Sand Private Reserve, sharing unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park. With just 12 suites — and a maximum of 24 guests at any one time — Arathusa delivers a personal, unhurried safari experience. A Day at Arathusa Days follow the natural rhythm of the bush. A pre-dawn wake-up call (around 04:30 in summer, 05:30 in winter) is followed by a 3-hour morning safari in open 4x4 vehicles capped at just 8 guests, with breakfast served on return. Mid-morning brings an optional guided bush walk, then time at leisure — visit the Safari Spa, lie by the pool, browse the curio shop, or rest in your suite. Lunch is served at 14:00, afternoon tea at around 15:30, and the afternoon/evening safari runs until sunset. Dinner follows, often around the boma fire under the stars. By air: scheduled FedAir flights from Johannesburg or Cape Town connect via Hoedspruit, Nelspruit, or Skukuza, with a short transfer to Arathusa's own airstrip.
