Fossil Hills Albatross Cottage is situated on Thornvilla Farm, in the Breede Valley between Robertson and McGregor. This working wine farm forms part of the McGregor Winery. Grapes, plums, apricots, and various vegetables are harvested each year. The name ‘Fossil Hills’ comes from the fossils that were and are still found on the farm, dating back to the fish age of 355 million years ago. The cottage comprises 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, accommodating 2 guests. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. The living space features a lounge with a fireplace, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped with a fridge, a 2-plate stove with a mini oven and microwave, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities. Guests can enjoy the braai facilities and the wood-fired hot tub. The area offers many outdoor activities such as exploring fruit orchards, olive groves, vineyards, walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, 4x4 trails, as well as birdwatching in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. The hosts offer wine walks, and guests are welcome to enquire for more information. Guests can also enjoy the pottery studio, art galleries, and cob house building, or have a meal at the local coffee shops, restaurants, or pubs.
