Ghaub Lodge

Ghaub Lodge combines the atmosphere of pioneer days with modern comfort within the Otavi mountains in Namibia. The property was founded in 1895 as a mission station by the Rhenish Missionary Society. In the late 1990s, the historical buildings were restored and converted, with additional guest wings built in the same architectural style. The lodge features a large swimming pool and offers free WLAN at the reception. Palm trees and farm walls on the property recall its mission station origins. A shaded area in the garden has an evening fire. Guests can support sustainable travel. The lodge is part of the ONE Namibia company, which works to preserve wildlife and natural habitats through hospitality income, sustainable agriculture, and share sales.

Accommodation at Ghaub Lodge includes rooms with a private bathroom, a lounge area, and a patio. The rooms are comfortably furnished, reflecting the historic charm of the former mission station. Each room offers views towards the large garden. In-room amenities include a coffee station, a mini bar, and 220 V power. For comfort, rooms are equipped with a fan and beds have mosquito nets. An electric kettle is also provided.

Ghaub Lodge has a restaurant that serves a set menu, and there is also a bar. The renovated former house of the farm manager of the mission station now houses the restaurant, bar, kitchen, and reception. Lodge rooms include dinner and breakfast. Lunch is available from an on-site menu. Guests staying in lodge rooms also receive coffee and cake in the afternoon as part of their stay. Dinner orders must be placed by 3:00 PM, and lunch orders are accepted until 1:30 PM. The bar provides a relaxed atmosphere for drinks.

Ghaub Lodge is situated in the Otavi mountains, offering an idyllic setting within a nature reserve and farm. Both Grootfontein and Tsumeb are approximately 50 km away. The renowned Etosha National Park is reachable within around 1.5 hours by car. The lodge’s position provides a base for travellers combining a farm and wildlife stay with a broader Etosha itinerary. The region experiences a dry season from approximately May to October and a wet season from November to April. Guests should note that the gate closes at 19:00, and it is not recommended to drive in the dark.
